Using a mobile crane to lift boats

Well, it's that time of year again when many small boat owners are thinking about winter storage and maintenance. Every year, Carter Plant Hire lifts numerous boats into the water in the spring and out of the water and into storage in the autumn.

This is not always as straightforward as it seems. Timings have to be coordinated with the tides; transport needs to be ready if the boats are being stored any distance from the harbour or slipway; and the correct information on the boat, including its weight, lift points and centre of gravity must be provided. Then, most importantly, the correct equipment and trained personnel are essential to ensure the lift is completed safely in a way that does no damage to the boat.

Needless to say, Carter Plant Hire has many years of experience in exactly this operation. Our lift team, headed by Lift Supervisor and Crane Operator, Ben Carter, knows exactly what is required to keep the boats in good condition and their owners happy.

If you have a boat that needs lifting or would like to discuss your options, please feel free to contact us or telephone 01395 446 446.
