The changing face of crane hire

Updated: Oct 20, 2020

Versatility is the key to staying on top in a competitive crane hire market…

We are lucky, Carter Crane Hire has an excellent reputation amongst its customers, so we get lots of repeat business. But we also get new business because we are happy to undertake some of the more specialist jobs such as caravan and mobile home lifting and boat lifting, as well as to work with small builders on jobs that don’t always need a full-size crane.

Our small HIAB is perfectly adequate for lifting steels, etc. to first floor level and is a much more economical solution than a full-size crane. We regularly lift hot tubs, garden sheds, and white goods into awkward spaces. It doesn’t require grillage and can get to jobs quickly, which also keeps costs down.

That is not to say that our large cranes aren’t busy all of the time – they are – but we don’t believe in using a sledgehammer to crack a nut and we are not in the business of over-specifying what is needed.

Our large cranes come into their own on traditional sites with multi-storey buildings (homes or commercial sites), tall structures or in a quarry. In these situations they can be often be the quickest and most efficient way of lifting everything from steels, trusses and packs of board to the upper levels, saving time and labour.

Whatever the size of job, we will be happy to give you a competitive quote – just contact us or telephone 01395 446 446.
