CRANE HIRE

Carter Plant Hire offers mobile crane hire in Devon (near Exeter) plus Dorset, Somerset and Cornwall, although we often travel further for longer contracts.

We offer different crane hire and accessory packages to suit your needs and are happy to assess the site in advance. We pride ourselves on providing a professional service and always do our best to fit in with your schedule. From large infrastructure and building projects to lifting garden sheds and hot tubs, caravan lifting, boat lifting and tandem lifts, no job is too big or small, so please contact us for a quote.

The origins of the Carter Group can be traced back to 1912, when H Carter & Sons was established in Budleigh Salterton in the south west of England. More recently the Carter Group was formed and, to this day, it remains a family business operating mainly in Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Cornwall.

Carter Haulage and Crane Hire has been in the industry for over 40 years and is a member of the Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA).

We also conform to the requirements of the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) and British Standards Institute (BSI – the national standards body for the UK).

Our aim is to provide a reliable, efficient and economical service, using our highly experienced heavy lifting team and specialist equipment for a service tailored to your requirements. With our training and construction divisions, we pride ourselves on being able to offer our customers a wide ranging, professional service. The firm carries public liability insurance of £5m and has employers’ liability insurance of £10m.

CARTER'S LIFT & SHIFT

Carter’s haulage fleet works in conjunction with our plant hire department in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. We have access to large tractor units with specialist trailers to carry heavy plant and crane ballasts using tri-axle trailers with electronically operated ramps.

For smaller haulage jobs we can offer a specialist small heavy goods truck ideal for small building works and for unloading bigger vehicles where site access is difficult. This is often a more economic option for smaller items such as hot tubs or where the lift is relatively low.
